Proof of delivery (POD)

What is proof of delivery (POD)?

Proof of delivery (POD) is the signed copy of a delivery note or waybill that confirms goods were handed over, showing who accepted them and when. Suppliers and transporters keep it as evidence that the delivery happened; receiving businesses keep it as evidence of what they signed for.

A POD may carry notes added at the door, such as short quantities, damage or rejected items. It is related to the delivery note but not the same: the POD records acceptance, while the delivery note lists what was sent.

Why it matters

Disputes over short or damaged deliveries are settled with the POD. If the notes written on it at the bay never reach the GRV (GRN elsewhere) or the credit note request, the evidence exists on paper but not in the record.

How Weeva handles it

Goods Receiving Automation ingests both the delivery note and the POD. The signed POD is kept against the GRV as evidence, and damaged or rejected quantities are recorded separately so the credit note has a clear basis.
