GLOSSARY
Over delivery
What is over delivery?
An over delivery is a delivery in which more units arrive than were ordered on the purchase order. It can come from a supplier rounding up to a full case or pallet, a picking error, or goods meant for another customer.
The receiving business decides whether to accept the extra quantity, often within an agreed tolerance, or to return it. Accepted extra quantity must be recorded and paid for; rejected extra quantity should be documented for collection.
Why it matters
Extra stock accepted without a record ties up cash and shelf space, and the supplier invoice will usually charge for it. Extra stock that is never recorded leaves the ERP disagreeing with the shelf.
How Weeva handles it
Goods Receiving Automation flags an over delivery and holds the line. It accepts within a tolerance you set, and otherwise asks the receiver to decide before the GRV (GRN elsewhere) is posted.
