GLOSSARY
GRN (goods received note)
What is GRN (goods received note)?
A GRN, or goods received note, is the document that records what was actually received from a supplier against a purchase order. It is the same document South African businesses call a GRV (goods received voucher) and SAP calls a goods receipt.
GRN is the usual term in the UK and in Syspro, where receipts create GRN transactions used for invoice matching. A GRN lists each line accepted, with quantities and costs, and any quantities rejected. Posting it updates stock and the purchase order.
Why it matters
Teams moving between systems, or between countries, often use GRN and GRV for the same thing. Knowing they are one document avoids duplicate procedures and confused suppliers, and makes clear that the same controls apply whatever the name.
How Weeva handles it
Goods Receiving Automation creates whichever document your ERP uses. In Syspro that is a GRN, created against the right purchase order once the receiver confirms what arrived, with the delivery note photo attached.
